A tooth crown is a tooth-shaped cap that is placed over a tooth. It covers the tooth to restore its shape, size and strength. A tooth crown can also be fabricated to enhance appearance. Crowns, when cemented into place, fully encase the entire visible portion of a tooth that lies at and above the gum line.
A tooth crown is made with all-gold, gold with a porcelain veneer or all-porcelain. We can help you decide which is best for you.
The process requires two steps. First, we prepare the tooth for the crown, take an impression of the preparation and place a temporary crown on the tooth. About a week later, we cement the final tooth crown.
