Xrays and fluoride in the news
Concern about children receiving too much radiation from xrays was recently in the news. Dental xrays were not included in the study because the amount of radiation used in dental xrays is so low . . . about as much as you get from a few minutes flying on an airliner.
Reducing fluoride in the water also has been a hot topic. What we see every day is that children who drink fluoridated water, receive twice-a-year fluoride treatment from us and receive sealants on their permanent molars experience much less tooth decay. Our mission is to prevent decay and help you decide what is best for your children.
Continuing education
In January, we brought in a 3M representative to teach us about digital impressions when fabricating crowns and bridges. It is a much more accurate system which uses digital video images to fit a crown or bridge to your teeth. We will continue to study the available systems and hope to have one on-line by the end of 2011.
Information and training to help us improve our dental health service to seniors is in very low supply. So we invited an occupational therapist to visit our office in February to teach us about how to help seniors with their special needs.
First floor news
Interest in the first floor tenant space is heating up and it's mostly from entrepreneurs and small business owners. We get calls nearly every week! We think it is a sign that the economy is slowly bouncing back. To get a head start on building out for future tenants, we are pouring a floor and installing some mechanical features.
Neighborhood news
Crank Daddy's bike shop is moving closer to North Avenue, across from Alterra on Prospect . . . the former Goodwill Building.
Alterra's on Prospect revamped the inside of their shop and now they are undertaking changes to the front of their store. To accommodate and encourage bicycle use, they are planning to build a bike corral at the front of their store.
A new eastside group is forming soon - The Eastside Milwaukee Community Council (EMCC). More information and membership applications will be available in February on EMCC's website: http://eastsidemilwcc.org.
